Why The New Name?

It’s been a while. Lets blame it on the pandemic and swiftly move on shall we 😉

Now that restrictions are easing and the kids are back at school I’ve had time to check in with the art community and a few opportunities have arisen. And along with these opportunities came the repeated question, ‘should I be creating under my own name rather than a business name?’.

This is something I’ve struggled with since my degree days, because to begin with I wasn’t confident enough to reveal myself without something to hide behind. The name Silver Vintage Photography provided me with that shield. But it also created a barrier because people didn’t recognise or know my name, I wasn’t being talked about and to ‘make it’ in this industry it’s not necessarily what you know but who you know.

During the past 14 months, my situation has kept me separate from art, I’ve simply had neither the time nor the inclination to produce anything. Now that my circumstances have changed I’m venturing out into the art world again and I’m realising I don’t need to hide anymore.

I figured that now would be the perfect time to make the change, so I did!
